Slicer 5
Cloud Slicing for Most 3D Printers
Slicer 5 is the recommended default slicer in 3DPrinterOS, built on the open-source Cura engine. Upload an STL, slice it on cloud resources instead of your own computer, and send the G-code to your printer from any browser.

What Is Slicer 5?
Slicer 5 is the recommended default cloud slicer in 3DPrinterOS. It runs the open-source Cura engine on cloud resources, turns STL models into G-code from any browser, and offers a 7-parameter Simple Mode and a 400+ parameter Expert Mode with dual extrusion support.
How to Slice a Model with Slicer 5
Click through the five steps. Each one shows what you will see in 3DPrinterOS.
Upload Your Model
Add your STL file to the Files page in 3DPrinterOS. Your printer needs to be connected first. If it is not, install your 3D printer.
Click Slice and Choose Slicer 5
Click the Slice button next to the STL file and open Slicer 5. The slicers you see depend on your organization.
Set Up Your Slicing Settings
Your options depend on your school or organization’s rules.
Two ways to set up a slice:
- Use Default Profiles: 3DPrinterOS provides default slicing profiles so you can print without diving into parameters
- Adjust Settings: change parameters manually, for example to speed up the print or increase quality
Slice or Slice & Toolpath Preview
Click Slice or Slice & Toolpath Preview. The sliced file appears in the corresponding project. With Slice & Toolpath Preview, the Toolpath Viewer opens automatically so you can inspect every layer.
Send It to Your Printer
Find the sliced G-code on the Files page, click Print, choose your printer, then start the job right away or add it to the print queue.
Start Simple, Go Expert When You Need It
- Simple Mode: 7 basic parameters for everyday prints
- Expert Mode: 400+ parameters in categories like Machine, Quality and Shell
- Dual extrusion and None, Normal or Tree supports
- Linked parameters update each other to keep prints stable
