Where Do Your Bambu Lab Print Files Go?

When you use Bambu Lab's default cloud workflow, your design files transit through Bambu Lab's cloud infrastructure. The company uses Amazon AWS for customers outside of China and Alibaba Cloud for the Chinese market. Bambu Lab holds ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 certifications, and in 2025 launched a Trust Center to address security transparency.

Privacy First for Individuals

For individual makers and hobbyists, this is a reasonable setup. But for organizations subject to ITAR, CMMC, DFARS, TX-RAMP, or institutional data governance policies, the question is not whether Bambu Lab's cloud is secure in general. The question is whether your compliance framework allows design files to transit through cloud infrastructure operated by a company headquartered in Shenzhen, regardless of the server location.

Built for the Way Regulated Organizations Buy Software

Bambu Lab offers a LAN-Only Mode that keeps print data on the local network. This addresses the data routing concern at the printer level. But it does not solve the management problem: in LAN Mode, you still need a way to handle user authentication, print queues, cost tracking, audit logs, and compliance reporting across a fleet of printers.

"We have an amazing group of students working on solving real-world problems using these printers, as opposed to if all these machines were sitting there collecting dust. There is actually not enough capacity, and we need more of them."
