Formlabs Slicer
PreForm for SLA in the Cloud
The dedicated cloud engine for Formlabs SLA (resin) printers, based on PreForm. Select your printer, profile, material and layer thickness, slice in the cloud and send the job straight to your connected Formlabs printer.

What Is the Formlabs Slicer?
The Formlabs Slicer is the 3DPrinterOS cloud slicer for Formlabs SLA resin printers. It runs the PreForm engine in the cloud and uses four settings: printer, profile, material and layer thickness. Each sliced file is locked to the specific connected printer you selected.
How to Slice a Model with the Formlabs Slicer
Click through the five steps. Each one shows what you will see in 3DPrinterOS.
Upload Your Model
Add your STL file to the Files page in 3DPrinterOS. Your Formlabs printer needs to be connected first. If it is not, install your 3D printer.
Click Slice and Choose the Formlabs Slicer
Click the Slice button next to the STL file and open the Formlabs Slicer. The slicers you see depend on your organization.
Set the Four Simple Mode Settings
In Simple Mode, select:
- Printer: the specific connected Formlabs printer the job will run on
- Profile: the slicing profile to use
- Material: the resin you are printing with
- Layer Thickness: thinner layers give more detail, thicker layers print faster
Slice the Model
Click Slice. The sliced file appears in the corresponding project. Formlabs files show a model render rather than a layer-by-layer toolpath preview.
Print on the Selected Printer
Find the sliced file on the Files page, click Print and send it to the Formlabs printer you selected when slicing.
Each Slice Is Locked to One Printer
- Four settings: printer, profile, material, layer thickness
- One printer per slice: files can't move to another machine
- No virtual printers or AutoQueue for Formlabs jobs
- Model render preview instead of a toolpath view
